Hi Ed, Hope you can help me. Have had a chinazone 100w CO2 laser for 4 years. The last six months it has been behaving erratically on some projects. I have run a Grund test on some MDF and scaled the Grund test to take up approximately the full working area (1000mm x 600mm). The first photo shows the line work results. The laser started with the circles and squares in the right hand corner, did the letter “b” (not completed) then went onto the outside border of the 00 layer -from there it was all downhill!
The second photo shows the screen of the ruida controller, it shows the mistakes but not in the correct location (eg location of left circle & border). The preview in lightburn is exactly correct and true to the grund test vectors. Any suggestions where to start??
Hi Ed, Thanks for the reply. Is it possible for the folks at lightburn to suggest a repair? Not sure if I should uninstall Lightburn then reinstall it or if the Ruida firmware needs some work. The fault seems to appear more frequently on my projects if they are taking up a large portion of the workspace. I can often overcome the problem by putting shapes on different layers and running each layer seperately - tedious task! At times the stepper motors (not sure which one x or y) make a different noise when transitioning from one shape which has been completed correctly to the next position and from there on the vectors bear no resemblance to the artwrok.
Hi John,
The original grundtest file I used was GrundTest.lbrn2 (77.1 KB)
After experiencing all the problems I modified the file to put groups on different layers - see file GrundTest different layers.lbrn2 (80.0 KB)
I then went through the test manually only switching on the output one layer at a time and running the program. When starting the laser from the home position it did not go to the first shape position for layer 00 but started burning where the layer 8 shape is. I stopped the laser, reset it to the home position, then moved the laser with the ruida controller close to where layer 00 shapes are supposed to be. I started the program and the output was perfect for layer 00. The laser stopped at the position where that burn ended. I then turned layer 00 off, layer 01 on and started the program again. I repeated this process and everything worked perfectly up to and including layer 14. When I started the next layer in the sequence (layer 13) it went to the wrong position (roughly where the shapes for layer 9 are). I stopped the program, reset the laser to the home position, then moved it close to where layer 13 shapes are and started the program again. The shape was burnt in the correct place. I continued with the rest of the layers (leaving the laser where it finished in the previous burn and everything finished burning correctly. Don’t know if this helps you diagnose any problems. Let me know if you want some different testing done or need any data from lightburn. Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
