Let's See Your Coasters

Ahh, yeah that makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. Now to go hunt Etsy!

This is more for designing. I wrote a program in Cuttle that creates 37 different patterns with 5 different perimeters. I have the paid version, but the free version allows you to download 10 files per month.

I did reduce it after first, did material cut. I am 10 watt diode lazer at 2000/55 i’ll try a little lower. Thanks

You need to be patient and wait for the upload to complete…

Neither of your photos completed the upload

Much better… :+1:

What kind of coating do you finish them off with?

I’ve just used floor sealant…

I make military coaster for a friend of mine, they are engraved on slate.

Made with a friend before I had my own laser.

How’d you manage the white on the cork? Off cut and glue up? Looks nice!

It’s probably an inlay…?

There is a trotek video link in that thread.

All pictures are MDF, the clips are on one side coated (standard off shelf). The upper photo is cut and fill with acrylic paint and then sanded. The 5 shapes are in fact a free interpretation of the Melitta coffee filter.

I’m really blown away by these! Great depth of cut and so clean! How do you do it? I have a 10W optical system and deep cuts result in so much charring that I gave up trying.

I use a 60w CO2 laser, super easy to do with CO2 lasers.

Creality Laser Falcon2 40W diode laser.

I’ve done some of my own. These 1st ones are mirrored where I’ve removed the mirror backing from the rear using a reverse image and then I paint the areas that have been removed. When you flip the mirror over you have the painted image showing with the mirror in the remaining areas.

And these were for a client that I made a bar for. Just on 1/4" Maple plywood and I put a cork backer on to keep them from slipping around. The mirrored coasters also have the cork backer.
